Falls

The National Youth Choir of Great Britain is performing Paul’s song cycle ‘Falls’ as part of their Summerfest 2015 concert at the Snape proms on the 28th August.

The song cycle is a setting of John Greening’s collection of poems about the stories and folklore associated with the Niagara falls.

The work was originally written for the Dunedin Consort in 2000, premiered at the Wigmore Hall and was performed widely when the choir toured Scotland and Canada.

Paul met John in the late 90’s when teaching for a short period at Kimbolton School where John was an English master and a widely published and award winning poet. When a commission came about from McAlpine to write a work for Dunedin it proved an ideal opportunity for a collaboration between the two of them.
